Corporate Social Responsibility

We care about the planet. We recognise the current climate emergency. Businesses, like ours, need to take proactive action and not just talk about it. This is why we’ve created our Green Team, joined Zellar’s sustainability platform, measure our sustainability performance and create plans with tangible actions to deliver our sustainability commitments.

Everybody is treated equally

We can’t do anything without our wide range of skillsets and backgrounds. This is what makes us stand apart from the crowd, provide a better service, and produce more creative solutions. Nurturing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all is essential.

Staff Wellbeing is key to our success

To function as a team we need our staff to stay healthy and happy. We offer all our staff a wellbeing package including: free breakfast each morning, free gym membership, flexible working, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas, free professional therapy, access to the Work Life and Health Shield platforms and to top it off an early finish on Fridays.

Investing in the future

Our staff are at the top of their game. We continually provide training and career development goals. We do this with regular one to one reviews, mentoring and bi-annual appraisals.

We regularly take on apprentices and work experience placements to raise the next generation of commercial property agents, designers and building surveyors. We are currently working alongside a local University to train three apprentices across the team.

Transparency is important to us

We know everyone we work with and what they stand for. As an SME we can easily monitor exactly who is in our supply chain and their processes and policies around anti-slavery and anti-money laundering. As with all our policies and processes, we are committed to regularly reviewing and updating how we monitor our supply chain as we grow, to ensure our principles are adhered to in everything we do.

Supporting the local community

OBI are proud to support and raise money for our partner charities – the Manchester Youth Zone and Foundation 92.

The Manchester Youth Zone is located in Harpurhey, Manchester and supports young persons aged 8-21, with a wide range of activities including arts, sports, music, youth session and specialist workshops. The charity makes a positive impact to the local community and improves the life of many young people in one of the most deprived areas of the UK.

OBI are a hugely valuable supporter of Manchester Youth Zone and have really bought into our mission to connect under-served young people of North Manchester to their City and its opportunities, so that they can aspire and achieve and we can level the playing field.

Their financial support has enabled us to reach over 4,000 children this year, provide each child with a free hot nutritious meal after every youth session and expand our programmes into increasing careers and employability programmes, addressing youth knife crime and exploitation and helping young people build resilience and emotional wellbeing.

Not only this but OBI have helped improve Manchester Youth Zone’s physical environment with the donation of new carpets and support with renovations. The social value that OBI bring – enabling us to place resource to level up and help children succeed is the core of our success and survival. We are committed to continuing this partnership for the foreseeable future and their commitment to multi-year funding has enabled us to develop sustainable programmes and achieve longer term sustainable impact.

OBI also supports Foundation 92, an independent charity based in Salford that focuses on supporting people to improve their lives through sport and education, with an emphasis on positive physical and mental wellbeing.

OBI are a committed and dedicated community focused company, who truly care about the communities the business operates in. OBI empowers its workforce to play an active role in supporting their local community, through allowing its employees to take part in a range of activities such as Volunteering and the supporting of Foundation 92’ fundraising committee.

Will Lewis happily gives up extensive time throughout the business week, to support Foundation 92’s work in the community, as well as sitting as a Trustee on the Charities Board.

OBI’s ongoing support of Foundation 92 has enabled the Charity to collaborate and innovate with likeminded individuals and businesses. Everyone at Foundation 92 would like to thank the whole OBI team for their unwavering support.
