In one of our biggest and most exciting projects to date, OBI have completed the fit out of the new HQ for AO.com, the UK’s leading online retailer of domestic appliances. Our team worked closely with AO.com to ensure the design of the space matched the company’s ethos of providing a fun place to work.
We completed the £2 million design and fit out for the new 50,000 sq ft head office at 5A Parklands, at Middlebrook in Bolton.
Working hand in hand with the team at AO.com we designed and fitted-out the new HQ to ensure it not only reflects, but actively demonstrates, that a fun working culture is a key priority for the business. In a recent article in Retail Week magazine, John Roberts, founder and chief executive of AO.com said: “If we keep that, everything else will take care of itself. When I go to work I want to have a laugh. We make more money the less we worry about making money.”
Delivered in just 12 weeks, in time for the £1.2bn floatation of the business, we provided a unique fit-out for AO.com’s 500 staff featuring; a 5,000 sq ft social area, known as The Park which includes gaming stations, space to relax, chef-prepared meals and snacks throughout the day, its own branch of Starbucks, three large meeting rooms; Lego Room, Board Room and Party Room and bathrooms with a creative touch!
Other feature rooms include a ‘Voodoo’ Lounge and ‘Indonesian Spa’, where the AO team can get their hair cut and nails painted!
It was fantastic to work with team at AO.com, I spent a lot of time with them to find out what makes them tick and what they wanted from their workspace. We were able to get really creative with our design, providing fun and interesting spaces that promote collaboration, innovation and productivity.
