BCL Legal has today announced that it has purchased the long leasehold interest of both the second and third floors of Lancaster Buildings, 77 Deansgate in Manchester, totalling 13,448 sq ft. The legal recruitment consultancy will be occupying 7,308 sq ft on the third floor.
OBI Property, which advised on the acquisition and also the interior design and project management of the fit out, will lease the remaining floor on behalf of BCL Legal, providing flexible work space from 500 sq ft up to 6,140 sq ft. Legal advice was provided by Thomas Pearson of JMW Solicitors.
BCL Legal employs 45 people at its new Manchester headquarters and also has offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and Reading. It has moved into the Lancaster Buildings as part of its ongoing expansion drive.
James Batt, managing director, BCL Legal said: “We are thrilled with our new office; it’s in a great central location that allows the business to be easily accessible. It was important for us to secure a long term base from which to drive growth and to create an office environment that was attractive for both our clients and employees. Appointing OBI was a great decision as it enabled us to benefit from their integrated and seamless approach throughout the entire process. The OBI team took time to understand our business and their advice has been first class whether it be on the acquisition itself, the interior design or management of the fit out. The office includes a front of house client area and learning suite in addition to a lounge area for employees and a gym.”
James Scott, Workplace Consultant at OBI Property said: “Lancaster Buildings have some beautiful original period features which we wanted the design to complement. We’ve really enjoyed working with BCL Legal on this project and I am delighted that we have produced a stunning new workspace to support the growth of the business. This job is a perfect illustration of the “OBI difference” which involves us dealing with every step of a client’s project from the identification of a building through to the delivery of the finished office.”
OBI Property was set up in 2010 and is a commercial real estate firm which provides innovative solutions to its landlord and occupier clients.
