OBI Property acted on behalf of Clarke Wilmott LLP, securing the national law firm’s new office of 5,793 sq ft on the seventh floor of 55 Spring Gardens, Manchester, M2 2BY on a ten year lease.

The deal to Clarke Willmott, who is moving from 19 Spring Gardens to help facilitate the growth of the business, follows the purchase of 55 Spring Gardens by Aviva Investors in August 2017.

Roy Crozier, Head of Clarke Willmott’s Manchester office said: “The move to larger offices demonstrates our commitment to servicing our clients in Manchester and the North West and our growing success in winning work across all sectors.”

Christian Anderton, Aviva Investors said: “The deal represents the first since our recent acquisition and sets a new benchmark in terms of perceived market rent for that space. As we look to move the asset forward, we remain encouraged by the depth of occupational interest, particularly amongst the tech and wider start-up community, with whom we are excited to continue building new relationships. These will shortly be further supported by the launch of market leading resident amenity and activation programme”.

Richard Lace transactions and asset management, OBI Property said: “Clarke Wilmott gave us a very specific brief of identifying a building and workspace that would differentiate them from the more traditional professional services firms in the city. 55 Spring Gardens fulfilled that brief and we were delighted to act on their behalf.”
