Global firm, Stantec, takes on 100 Barbirolli Square as its new Manchester home
17 January 2024Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, is moving into its new Manchester home at 100 Barbirolli Square in the city centre.
Stantec, which has more than 28,000 employees worldwide, will be taking over the seventh floor of the iconic building near Bridgewater Hall. The Company is initially taking around 10,000 square feet for its flagship office which will be the new workspace for more than 70 Stantec colleagues as the firm continues to grow its headcount and its water sector offering.
Stantec has been ranked as one of the most sustainable companies in the world and provides a range of interdisciplinary consultancy services across the built environment to create sustainable, prosperous, and equitable communities. Its new Manchester office will see engineers, planners, economists, ecologists, acousticians, designers, and others unite from its two existing offices on Oxford Road and Bridge Street.
In the North West, the company supports housebuilders, developers, operators, and landowners in boosting the provision of new homes and jobs, improving wellbeing, transforming mobility, and spearheading regeneration works. The firm also partners with local authorities and other public sector clients including Homes England. Stantec works closely with United Utilities in futureproofing and increasing the resilience of its water networks and the new Manchester office is expected to host a growing number of water services team members.
Stantec’s new Manchester home has been designed with wellbeing, inclusion, and collaboration in mind. The refurbished workplace features co-working environments including zones for social activity, team building exercises, and general wellbeing. There will also be a number of creative areas for teams and clients to make use of.
“With so many incredible projects in the pipeline, we need to ensure we attract the best talent across a variety of important disciplines,” said Cath Schefer, Stantec’s Global chief operating officer. She continued: “We know the next generation of engineers and designers prioritise wellbeing and inclusivity, while having a dynamic, flexible workplace. Our new Manchester office will be a lively and aspirational hub right in the city-centre.”
Dan Mitchell, planning director, at Stantec, commented: “We’ve enjoyed years of success from our Bridge Street and Oxford Road offices, but our rapid growth means we need to expand. 100 Barbirolli Square is the perfect new home for our teams in Manchester.” Bernard Greep, planning director, added: “It truly is a remarkable space in a fantastic location, and we’re excited to use it to collaborate with clients on some of the most transformational built environment projects in this region and beyond.”
