OBI advises Sedulo on Birmingham expansion, launching new regional base at historic Cornwall Buildings
20 May 2025One of the UK’s leading mid-tier business advisory firms, Sedulo Group, has announced its expansion in Birmingham following growth success in the city, opening a new regional base at Bruntwood SciTech’s Cornwall Buildings.
The company’s new base of 5,000 sq ft in the Grade II-listed city centre innovation hub, strategically situated in the heart of the Colmore Business District will support the company’s burgeoning growth and enable their new hub to support up to 40 people. The move underscores Sedulo’s commitment to investing in Birmingham and its desire to be embedded in one of the UK’s fastest-growing and innovation-focused business communities.
Sedulo is on track to double in size over the next three years, and a new Birmingham base represents a key step in its national growth strategy.
OBI advised Sedulo on the move to Cornwall Buildings which will see the firm push forward plans for a leisure and events space within the building that will echo the spirit of the iconic Metro Bar – a former business social hub housed in the same building and considered one of Birmingham’s most iconic venues in the late 90s and early 00s. Sedulo will use the space to host regular networking events, aimed at reconnecting Birmingham’s business professionals and sparking new pan-sector collaborations. The space will offer immersive experiences for business events and networking, with décor inspired by prominent Birmingham brands such as Typhoo, Lloyds Bank and Cadbury.
Sedulo’s new base at Cornwall Buildings will see the business benefit from the proximity of and introductions to the 130+ technology, digital and innovation business ecosystem located across four city centre innovation hubs and two campuses already established in Birmingham by Bruntwood SciTech – a joint venture between Bruntwood, L&G and Greater Manchester Pension Fund – as well as its nationwide 1,100 startup, scaleup, and global customer community.
Rob Valentine, Regional Director for Bruntwood SciTech, said: “Birmingham continues to be a big player in business, professional and financial services, with the West Midlands being home to one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing BPFS clusters. Sedulo joining Cornwall Buildings underlines the benefits that the city can provide firms that are constantly seeking out opportunities for growth – offering an environment that supports their momentum and affords extensive networking opportunities to drive innovation.”
Paul Cheetham, Founder and Managing Partner of Sedulo, added: “At Sedulo we’re always looking at ways we can support our growth plans, while ensuring that our colleagues have a space where they can work, relax and socialise. The move to Cornwall Buildings will enable us to expand our services and support our wider national growth strategy, with access to high profile professional services and innovative businesses, as well as the opportunity to connect with new talent and professionals as part of our plans to revitalise networking in the city. Joining the Bruntwood SciTech ecosystem was a big draw for the move and will help support our future growth plans, through new connections, collaboration, and access to growth support.”
