THG and OBI
Will Lewis | 04 March 2021We first met THG back in 2013 where we won a competitive pitch to represent the business on a new office acquisition. We immediately connected with the buzz and energy of this exciting business, and the clear desire of its people to drive things forward without hanging around.
The THG journey has been unbelievable, it has not just been one of the North West’s success stories but is one of the most successful growth businesses in the whole of the UK.
THG is a proper tech business with a simple and strong core purpose – to be a technology platform that specialise in taking brands direct to consumers. THG has achieved this on a worldwide basis and is a testament to what the Manchester city region offers that such a business has selected Airport City as their HQ location.
In one of Europe’s largest recent IPOs, the business successfully floated for more than £5bn and the value has continued to rise.
The business now has 10,000 staff and you get the impression it is only just starting to get going. CEO and Executive Chairman, Matt Moulding still refers the business to having a start-up mentality where community and innovation remains at the heart of everything.
OBI has been lucky enough to represent THG for some time now as Matt and his team have plotted its expansion, working in partnership on all facets of the company’s real estate strategy in a range of areas, including offices, hotels, retail, logistics and residential uses.
This is a business that never stops thinking, never stops looking to innovate, and that is exactly the kind of business that we thrive on working with.
Working with THG, we have advised on more than 500,000 sq ft of office acquisitions, 1.45M sq ft of building surveys and concluded 19 dilapidations settlements on its behalf.
It has been a great partnership and the future looks very exciting for THG.
We got the chance the catch up with Matt to discuss THG’s plans for the future:
